Parenting Class ~

Guest speakers Simon and Aletha Arkley, founders of The Lantern Project, will be coming to Awake for our next Parenting Class on August 2nd at 12:00 p.m.

For more than 15 years, they’ve been fighting human trafficking through education, survivor support, and safe house ministry across North Carolina.

In this class, they’ll help parents better understand the real online dangers kids face today — including grooming, sextortion, and exploitation — and give practical tools for protecting your family.
You’ll learn how to secure devices, recognize warning signs, set healthy boundaries, and have ongoing conversations with your kids about online safety.

This is an important conversation every parent needs to hear, and we’d love for you to join us.

Simon & Aletha Arkley

Simon and Aletha Arkley have been actively fighting against trafficking for 15 years, serving in various roles such as education, direct assistance, aftercare, and safe house management. They have developed training materials for numerous public sectors and strive to educate others about trafficking whenever possible.

In 2020, they founded The Lantern Project, which has already educated thousands of individuals through in-person and video training sessions. The project has engaged over 120 local organizations in a commitment to combat trafficking, provided assistance to many survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation, and operates four safe houses in the greater Charlotte area for survivors. Their vision is to completely eradicate trafficking, beginning in North Carolina.
